Using comments in a Qlikview script is good coding practice. Makes code easier to read and to debug. Develop a style for comments, for instance at the start of every load section. Here are some good tips, from the QQQ blog:
There are several ways to create comments in your script.
// is for single line comments
/* …*/ is for a block edit
Use from the Edit menu – Comment for block comments with //
Use /* for disabling large parts of your script for debugging (or use a command “exit script;”)
Update: The BI Commons blog has another good bit for commenting:
Rather than using double slashes (//) on all lines of a Load or Select statement or opening and closing comments (/* */) before and after, typing rem comments the script until it reaches a semicolon.
For instance:SalesFact: LOAD Date, CustID, Amount, Quantity FROM Sales.qvd (qvd);
…becomes…rem SalesFact: LOAD Date, CustID, Amount, Quantity FROM Sales.qvd (qvd);
